1. Blog on topic/s that you are Passionate about
If you are a Mobile Phone lover, blog on this topic. Or you love to take pictures, blog on your thoughts and tips on photography or latest camera in the market.
2. Include related Keyword/s as in your URL
Once you have decided on the Main Topic for Blog, try to use the keyword/s in your URL.
This will help you in traffic generation when someone is searching for your keyword/s using the Search Engine.
3. Choose your Blog name and Stick to it
You can start your Blogging adventure using free service like Blogger.com or WordPress.com. Stick to your Blog name or register a Domain name early if you have intention to have one in the future. It will be "wasteful" if you decided to move or change your Blog/Domain name after building a Blog with good ranking and reputation. Then you will have to start all over again.
4. Content is King
In order to generate the interest of readers and attract the attention of search engines, you need to develop content and substance.
5. Stay Informative
Read around and stay current. Interact with your readers and fellow Bloggers. It is important that you produce information that is current, accurate and voice your own opinion. You can leave comments on their Blogs or/and discuss your views in forums.
6. Give your readers a Reason to bookmark your Blog
Nobody cares about what time you woke up this morning, they care about what you can do for them. Find a reason or reasons for visitors to return to your Blog.
7. Make your posts Clear and Simple
Keep your Blog entries clear and easy to understand. Posts should be long enough to cover your points and short enough to look nice.
8. Update your Blog Regularly
Ideally, you should update your Blog everyday. Usually, a new and excited blogger will update their Blogs for the first few weeks and their posts will get lesser as time goes by. Make your Blogging consistent and people will visit your Blog constantly. More readers means more traffic, more traffic means more exposure, more exposure means more money if you monetize your Blog with multiple source of income.
However, don't Blog mainly of money, Blog on the topic that you love and you will find it a joy updating your Blog. For example, I love Soccer, NBA, Sports punting, Technology/Computer Tips and Making Money Online etc, thus, I started this Blog posting all my thoughts and interesting stuffs that I have come across.
9. Be Receptive to Change
Be adaptive to constant change in the Blogging World. Read around and look out for continual improvement. Never stop learning, promoting and improving your Blog. If a change is needed, change it. Stay relevant to the dynamic World.
